Estero at a glance
Estero incorporated as a village in 2014. The area's history goes back to the Koreshan Unity, a 19th-century religious community whose settlement on the Estero River is now Koreshan State Park.
Boating here follows the Estero River out to Estero Bay, a shallow aquatic preserve, so many lifts carry smaller, shallow-draft boats.
Estero waterfront and its lifts
Many Estero homes are in newer planned communities with shared marinas or private docks on the river, and lifts tend to be newer with remote controls. Associations often set rules for lift types, canopies and contractors.
Shallow water in Estero Bay means boats are kept on lifts more than in deeper canals, so cables and motors get regular use.

Free EstimateWhat Estero boat owners ask for most
- Boat Lift Maintenance & Inspections
Newer lifts in planned communities need routine service to stay that way.
- Boat Lift Switch, Remote & Wiring Repair
Remote receivers and switches are common on newer lifts.
- Boat Lift Repair
Frequent use on shallow-water lifts wears drives evenly.
Check your association rules
Before replacing a lift or canopy, check your HOA's dock rules. Some require approved contractors or specific canopy colors.
Which office handles Estero lift permits
Estero is an incorporated village with its own community development office. Confirm with the village or your contractor which office permits your lift, and check whether your parcel is inside village limits.
Your parcel decides it: Village of Estero Building and Permitting Services at (239) 221-5036, or Lee County Building & Permitting Services at (239) 533-8585. Search the address on the Lee County Property Appraiser site before anyone files.
Most repair visits need no permit. Installing a new lift is different: building offices commonly want plans showing the lift, its capacity and how it ties to the dock or seawall, plus any electrical work. Ask your contractor to pull the permit in their name.
